Internet (Interconnection Networking) is a is a collection of global communications network that connects computer networks and from different systems with various types and types, by using a type of communication such as the telephone, satellites and others.

So in a nutshell, it can mean that the internet is a collection of various kinds of computer network system in the world that are inter-connected with each other and cancommunicate with each other.

History Of The Internet

According to history, the internet was born in the 60s or rather in 1969. The Internetoriginated from research sponsored by DARPA (Defense Advanced Reasearch ProjectsAgency).

This research aims to develop a computer network:

• Working transparently, through the various data communication networks which are connected to each other.
• Resistant to a wide variety of disorders (natural disasters, nuclear attack, and others)

The development of this network successful daan gave birth to APRANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network). So the first computer network was APRANET that exist in the world.

DARPA Model

DARPA Reference Mode is a reference to the network protocol used by TCP/IP protocol created by DARPA. This reference model is similar to the OSI Reference Model, in which each existing layer below provides a service to the layer that sits on top of it, and the layer above the layer to use services that exists underneath.

DARPA'S reference model only has 4 layers:

• 4 Apllication Layer
• 3 Host-to-Host Transport Layer/Layer
• 2 the Internetworking Layer/Internet Layer
• 1 Network interface layer/Layer Phisical

Apllication Layer

This layer serves provides services for TCP/IP applications, this layer handles high level protocol, the issue of reference data, the process of encoding and dialog controls that allow the occurrence of communication between networked applications.

The Protocol runs:

Telnet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

Host-to-Host Transport Layer/Layer

This layer serves arrange communication between hosts by creating a session connection-oriented or connectionless deploy a broadcast. Protocol-the Protocol that runs on a layer of this Protocol is Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

Internetworking Layer/Internet Layer

This layer has a major task in determining the best route would be bypassed by packet data. The protocols that run on this layer is the Internet Protocol (IP), Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) and Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP).

The network interface layer/Layer Phisical

Serves to put the frame-frame data to be sent to the network media. The Protocol that runs in this layer are some local network architecture (such as Ethernet or TokenRing), as well as technology service WAN (such as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Frame Relay, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).)
